Smokers at the Seagram
2004
photographs
Two photographs taken at the plaza of the Seagram building in New York, showing office workers smoking cigarettes outside. The building, considered an important example of modern architecture, was designed by Mies Van Der Rohe and completed in 1958. In the modernist tradition that the Seagram is part of, one could smoke anywhere inside the building, but now, through a social and cultural shift, the building no longer facilitates this activity.
